In a recent development on January 18, the Delhi High Court issued directions to the court registry and plaintiffs Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das to notify Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper and former Indian cricket champion Mahendra Singh Dhoni about the defamation suit filed against him. The suit revolves around alleged false accusations made by Dhoni against Diwakar and Das.

Despite being expected at the initial hearing before Justice Pratibha M. Singh, Dhoni or his representatives were notably absent. An intimation will now be sent to Dhoni before the rescheduled hearing on January 29.

Dhoni and Diwakar, partners in establishing cricket academies under "MS Dhoni Sports Complex," are entangled in a legal dispute. Dhoni filed a criminal conspiracy case, accusing Diwakar of continuing to use designated names after authorization was revoked.

Dhoni's lawyers alleged forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy, leading to a dual representation in the criminal conspiracy case in Ranchi's District Court and the defamation suit.

Notably, ANI, a defendant in the case, challenged the suit's maintainability, asserting their intent to merely report on the pending criminal case without tarnishing reputations. The court, presided by Justice Pratibha M. Singh, adjourned the hearing until January 29 after due considerations.
