Indian cricket star Mohammed Shami, who recently received the prestigious Arjuna Award for his outstanding contribution to the sport, has been making headlines. Despite being sidelined due to an ankle injury after the ICC World Cup 2023, Shami remains a key player in the hearts of cricket fans.

In a heartwarming gesture, Shami took time off from cricket to meet with the brave defence personnel, expressing his deep respect for their courage and commitment.

Sharing the touching moments on social media, Shami emphasized his pride in being an Indian and saluted the soldiers, stating, "I am proud to be an Indian. Salute our soldiers for their Honour, courage, and commitment."

The 33-year-old fast bowler, known for his remarkable performances, has been an integral part of the Indian cricket team. In the ODI World Cup 2023, Shami emerged as the highest wicket-taker, showcasing his exceptional skill and contribution to the team's success.

However, Shami's return to the cricket field has been delayed due to the ankle injury. Despite being initially named in the two-Test match series against South Africa, he was ruled out at the last moment, highlighting the challenges faced by athletes in maintaining their fitness.

Currently not part of the playing squad for the first two Test matches against England, Shami faces the task of proving his fitness at the National Cricket Academy before making a comeback to the Indian team.
