HEA vs SIX, Qualifier: Venue Analysis

The Carrara Oval in Queensland supports the pace bowlers more than the spinners. Batters after settling down can go on and make a big impact on this surface.

HEA vs SIX, Qualifier - Toss Factor

The stadium will host its first and only match of the ongoing Big Bash campaign. In this all-important and crucial fixture, the captain winning the toss would like to bowl first and have a target in front of him.

Scenario: If Brisbane Heat Fields First

Xavier Bartlett is the joint highest-wicket taker of BBL 13 so far. The right arm fast medium bowler has taken 16 wickets in eight innings at an average of 13.31. Pace bowlers Paul Walter and Spencer Johnson have snared 13 and ten scalps respectively. The trio will play a key role again in picking up wickets and restricting the Sixers to a low total. Josh Brown and skipper Nathan McSweeney will have to do the bulk of the scoring in the run-chase.

Scenario: If Sydney Sixers Fields First

Experienced campaigner Ben Dwarshuis is the leading wicket-taker for the Sixers so far. The left-arm seam bowler has taken 11 wickets at an average of 20.45 and an economy rate of 6.92. Pacers Jackson Bird and Jack Edwards have taken nine wickets each this season. The trio will look to keep doing their job and keep the Heat to a modest total. The batting will rely on the duo of James Vince and Josh Phillipe especially in a big run-chase.

Scenario: If Sydney Sixers Fields First

James Vince (SIX)

Veteran James Vince is the leading wicket-taker for the Sixers in BBL 13. The right-handed Englishman has struck 244 runs at an average of 31 which includes two half-centuries. The 32-year old has struck ten half-centuries for the Sixers in the history of the BBL. His side will depend a lot on him to provide a solid quickfire start especially while chasing a big target.

Daniel Hughes (SIX)

Opening batter Daniel Hughes won the Player of the Match award against Perth Scorchers last time out for his knock of 74 off 43 with seven fours and two maximums. The 34-year old left-handed opener is averaging 45 with two fifties this season. His scores read as 60*, 1, 2, 41 and 74. Hughes will again be looking to do the job right at the top of the order for his side in this all-important fixture.

Scenario: If Brisbane Heat Fields First

Josh Brown (HEA)

Josh Brown has struck the second-most runs after Colin Munro for Heat in this campaign. The 30-year old right-handed player is averaging 26 with the highest score of 43. The opening batter has got starts in all games with scores of 14, 14, 39, 43, 19 and 29. Brown will be a key player for Heat in a stiff run-chase.

Nathan McSweeney (HEA)

Nathan McSweeney is all set to lead the Heat side in the final stages of the competition in the absence of previous skippers Usman Khawaja and Colin Munro. McSweeney has hit the third-most runs for the Brisbane franchise this season. The right-handed top-order batter has an average of 29 with one fifty to his name. He will look to lead his side from the front by playing a significant knock.

HEA vs SIX, Qualifier - Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Jimmy Peirson (HEA)

Wicketkeeper batter Jimmy Peirson is the second highest run-scorer for Heat in the history of the BBL. The right-handed opener has 1655 runs to his name at an average of 22 with five half-centuries. Peirson also struck 42 with seven fours against the Scorchers in the last game which is his only appearance in this campaign. The opening batter is a risky but a worthy pick for this tie.

Josh Phillipe (SIX)

Wicketkeeper batter Josh Phillipe has amassed the second-most runs for the Sixers this season but is yet to hit a half-century. The right-handed top-order player has racked up 229 runs at an average of 25.44 with the highest score of 47. The 26-year old youngster will finally look to get to that milestone as he is a perfect pick for this category.
