National T20 Cup 2022, Semi Finals: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh emerge victorious

Pakistan National T20 Cup 2022 is inches away from its business end as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Central Punjab locked horns against Northern and Sindh respectively, in two Semi Finals on Sunday, September 18th. Let’s take a small look at what transpired.
Semi Final 1: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Northern
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Northern by 5 wickets in the First Semi Final of the ongoing National T20 Cup 2022 on Sunday at Multan Cricket Stadium.
After electing to bat first, Northern scored 164 for 4 in the first innings. Openers Nasir Nawaz and Taimoor Sultan started well and added 42 for the first wicket. Sultan departed for 21 off 20 and Northern scored 46 for 1 in the powerplay. Nawaz at the other end, was joined by skipper Umar Amin and the pair had a 70 runs partnership for the second wicket before losing Amin after scoring a decent 32 off 26.
However, Nawaz, who was dropped on 1 earlier in the first over, top-scored with 72 off 55 balls. On the other hand, Pakhtunkhwa’s Ihsanullah (0-14) failed to grab a wicket but was the most economical bowler today. However, Arshad Iqbal took 2 wickets and gave away 34 runs in his 4 overs.
Chasing a challenging target of 165, KPK’s openers Rehan Afridi and Sahibzada Farhan got off to a flying start and added 89 runs for the first wicket. The duo reached the 50-run mark in the first five overs which set the tempo for the men in black.
Farhan (39 off 29) was the first one to get out, followed by the wicket of his opening partner Afridi (54 off 39), who departed after scoring his maiden T20 fifty.
From Northern's perspective, Zaman Khan (2-24) did try to bring the men in red back in the game with a double-wicket 16th over but Mohammad Sarwar rose to the occasion and held his nerves, scoring 37 off 28 which helped KPK to chase the target with one over to spare.
