CPL 2022, SKNP vs SLK: David Wiese guides the Kings to victory

St Lucia Kings outclassed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 49 runs in Match 20 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2022 at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Faf du Plessis and his men registered their third win of their campaign and gained a massive jump to third position in the points table.
David Wiese tears apart Patriots' batting order
Chasing 190 to win, Patriots lost both of their premier batters Andrew Fletcher and Evin Lewis inside the powerplay. Dewald Brevis (32 off19) did hit some sixes in the middle overs but could not carry the momentum and gave an easy catch to mid wicket.
David Wiese was incredible with the ball today on a pitch which suited him a lot. His lethal slower balls broke the back of the chase and the Patriots collapsed like a home of cards. The Namibia international finished with figures 3 for 8, including a maiden over in his four overs. Kesrick Williams also got three wickets and gave away 32 runs in his four overs and Patriots were bowled out for 140 in 20 overs.
Johnson Charles' half-century powered St Lucia to a formidable total
Earlier in the day, after being put into bat, St Lucia Kings got off to a great start with captain Faf du Plessis setting the tone at the top of the order with a quick-fire 41 off 21 balls and the Kings were 60 for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of the powerplay.
Thereafter, Johnson Charles, who started slowly in the powerplay, shifted his gears in the middle overs and went on to score his third fifty of the season. The 33-year-old departed after scoring a decent 61 off 41 balls and while doing so surpassed Chris Gayle for the second highest run-scorer in CPL history. At the end David Wiese (21* off 12) and Roshan Primus (18 off 10) finished the innings on a high, adding 36 from 20 balls and took St Lucia to a formidable total of 189 for 7 in 20 overs.
In bowling perspective, Dwayne Bravo was brilliant as always, taking 2 for 26 in his four overs quota. Rashid Khan and Dwaine Pretorius took two wickets each but gave away way too many runs in their four overs.
