Just days after Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf drew backlash for his controversial "6-0" and fighter jet gestures aimed at Indian fans during the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan women's team player Nashra Sandhu has sparked a fresh debate with a similar celebration following her milestone performance against South Africa Women.
It is important to mention that the incident occurred during the 3rd ODI match on Monday (September 22, 20225) at Gaddafi Stadium. She also become the fastest Pakistani woman to take 100 wickets in ODI format.
Nashra Sandhu Copies Haris Rauf's Gesture
In a picture she shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sandhu is seen flashing six fingers. Many fans on social media connected the dots and connected it to Haris Rauf's celebration just a day earlier. The post also had a celebratory caption:
"Alhamdullillah, Truly humbled to reach the milestone of 100 ODI wickets with a player of the match award. I am grateful to my family, teammates, and support staff for their constant support. Looking ahead with gratitude and determination."
Another talking point about this celebration is that there is no official statement from the PCB or Sandhu herself clarifying the intent behind her gesture.
Haris Rauf’s Asia Cup 2025 Antics
During the high-stakes Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. Rauf was triggered by Indian fans and he responded to "Kohli, Kohli" chants with mock fighter jet movements and the ‘6-0’ hand gesture. He referred to the disputed claim by Pakistani sources that six Indian jets were shot down in May during Operation Sindoor.
It is vital to note that many fans and former cricketers labeled it as 'unsportsmanlike' and 'provocative,' and also urged Pakistani cricketers to uphold the spirit of the game.
