The Indian batters are making waves in the Asia Cup, as the Men in Blue proceeded to the Super Four stage with an unbeaten streak. After their recent victory over Pakistan, they have two more outings to qualify for the ultimate showdown.
Sanju Samson has impressed with the gloves, even with limited batting opportunities in the tournament. As India prepare for their next clash against Sri Lanka, the wicketkeeper-batter edges closer to an iconic record.
Sanju Samson eyes massive feat vs Bangladesh
After all debates, Sanju Samson found his place in the Asia Cup squad and showcased his heroics behind the stumps. As the Indian batters are in fiery form, Samson didn’t get a chance to contribute with the bat initially, but finally got a chance to bat against Oman and scored a half-century.
Having a tough outing against Pakistan in their first clash of the Super Four stage, Samson gears up for the upcoming match. Before stepping into the clash against Bangladesh, he is eyeing an iconic milestone. With 930 runs in 46 T20Is, Samson is just shy of Gautam Gambhir’s 932-run mark in 37 matches on the list of batters with the most runs for India in the format. So, Samson needs just three more runs to surpass the Indian head coach on the prestigious list.
Unbeaten India aims another win in Asia Cup
After lifting the Asia Cup 2023 trophy, Team India’s Asia Cup 2025 campaign had a dream start as they defeated the UAE in their opening clash. Following a group stage triumph over Pakistan, the Men in Blue dominated them in the Super Four affair, registering another one-sided victory over the Men in Green.
Being unbeaten in the tournament, they have two more assignments before stepping into the ultimate glory. On September 24 and 26, Suryakumar Yadav and his troops will take on Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, respectively, aiming for back-to-back wins to secure a spot in the Asia Cup 2025 final on September 28.
