The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) alerted authorities after an email from an account named ‘Pakistan JK’ threatened to “blast” Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The brief, ominous message prompted an immediate response, with Ahmedabad Police deploying senior officers and bomb squads to the venue overnight.

A comprehensive sweep of the stadium was conducted, though no suspicious items were found. Security has since been intensified, with critical attention on two upcoming IPL matches slated to draw massive crowds.

Terror Threat Emerges Amidst Geopolitical Tensions

The threat arrives amid heightened tensions following a recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed. India retaliated with ‘Operation Sindoor’, a targeted airstrike in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) that reportedly eliminated nearly 90 terrorists. The mail read, "We will blast your stadium."

While the email’s origins are under investigation, officials suspect it aims to provoke fear amid ongoing cross-border strife. The chilling email, devoid of specifics, was flagged to law enforcement within minutes. Authorities are tracing the digital trail of the sender, though no group has claimed responsibility.

IPL Security on High Alert

With the Narendra Modi stadium set to host high-profile IPL matches, security protocols have been overhauled. Anti-sabotage checks, drone surveillance, and increased personnel deployment are underway.

Forensic teams are dissecting the email’s metadata, while intelligence units probe potential ties to recent terror activities. The incident underscores vulnerabilities in public event security, with experts calling for advanced monitoring of online threats.
