In a significant development, there are reports that India skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to retire from Test cricket ahead of India's tour to England. Notably, RevSportz reported that the hitman is all set to hang up his boots from red-ball cricket to focus on his white-ball career.

Earlier, there were reports that BCCI is all set to sack the hitman from India's leadership role and appoint a new captain for the new Test cycle. "The national selectors have decided to remove Rohit Sharma as captain of India’s Test team, and go with a new leader for the tour of England that starts next month, " the report read.

Rohit Sharma Struggling For Runs In Test Cricket

Rohit was struggling for runs in the red-ball format and this is understood to be the primary reason behind his decision. Notably, in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the hitman scored just 31 runs in five innings, averaging just 6.20.

Owing to the poor run in Test cricket, Rohit also missed the fifth Test against Australia where he let Jasprit Bumrah lead the Indian side. Meanwhile, another report read that India selector Ajit Agarkar wanted to remove Rohit as the Test captain and due to the disagreement, it led to Rohit contemplating about his retirement.
