Pat Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) slumped to a 38-run defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Friday, severely denting their IPL 2025 playoff hopes. GT, propelled by Shubman Gill and Buttler's explosive knocks posted 224/6 before their bowlers stifled SRH’s chase at 186/6.

The loss leaves SRH languishing in ninth place as Pat Cummins aka 'The Silencer' got silenced at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.

Cummins Applauds Ahmedabad’s Electric Atmosphere

SRH skipper Pat Cummins, despite the loss, praised the Narendra Modi Stadium crowd, calling it “An amazing venue to play. They are so nice and loud.”

While Cummins was easy with his 'Nice And Loud' crowd comment, the Aussie skipper is essentially known as the 'Silencer' for his 2023 World Cup Final heroics where he teased Indian fans with the comment "nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent."

Commenting further, Pat Cummins admitted SRH’s shortcomings in all departments, starting with a sluggish powerplay.

“Our powerplay with the bat wasn’t too great. I was as guilty as anyone else. Probably let them get 20-30 extra runs. Maybe hang on to one or two catches. Again, am guilty there. Chasing 200 looked a bit more realistic,” Cummins said.

Cummins Praises GT’s Clinical Batting

The Australian ace credited GT’s top order for capitalizing on loose deliveries which paved the path for Gill & Co.'s win.

“They are class batters. They don’t do anything outlandish. If you bowl bad balls, they just put it away. We probably dished out too many bad balls. It is a really good wicket. Going for 140 in the last 14 overs was good on the bowling part. Sharma batted nicely. Nitish at the end. Left a little too much and too late for the batters,” Cummins concluded.

SRH's Faint Playoff Hopes & Long-Term Vision

With SRH needing a miracle to qualify, Cummins hinted at building for the future, “We can cling on to some hope. Big auction last year. The core of the group will be there for three years. So, lots to play for.”

As GT eyes a top-two finish, SRH’s campaign hinges on pride and planning for 2026, with Cummins’ leadership under scrutiny.
