Mumbai Indians’ newly picked pacer Deepak Chahar showcased his flair in the DY Patil tournament as he picked up a five-wicket-haul against Central Railways. Representing Reliance 1, Chahar restricted Railways to 125-run total.

Having been released by Chennai Super Kings before the IPL 2025 auction, Chahar was snapped up by Mumbai Indians for a whopping INR 9.25 crore.

Despite being an injury prone pacer, MI placed trust on him given his past success in the franchise league. And weeks ahead of the new IPL season, Chahar has picked up form.

The right-arm pacer produced a breathtaking spell, finishing with 3.4 overs, 21 runs, and 5 wickets at an impressive economy of 5.73.

He rejected Ajay Gigna, Eshaan Goyal, Sagar Jadhav, Vidyadhar Kamat, and Salil Agharkar to ensure that Central Railway was knocked out for 125 runs in the first innings.

Deepak Chahar was lethal and accurate with his line and lengths. He maintained a good pace and did not allow any batter to get set.

Despite a fighting 54-run knock from Praveen Deshetti, Central Railway struggled against Chahar’s fiery bowling. PSN Raju (3 wickets), Karn Sharma, and Vignesh Puthur (1 wicket each) provided additional support.

In the meantime, Reliance 1 chased the 126-run goal in 19.2 overs, winning a three-wicket match. K.L. Shrijith (53) and Raj Angad Bawa (28) anchored the pursuit, taking their side to the finishing line.

Jasprit Bumrah Back in Action Ahead of IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians (MI) have been handed a huge boost before IPL 2025, with their pace ace Jasprit Bumrah returning to bowling practice after a long injury layoff.

Bumrah, who was injured in the back during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, had been unavailable for close to two months, having missed the limited-overs series against England and the current Champions Trophy 2025.

However, the star pacer is now on the training grounds, which is a massive sigh of relief for MI.
