A crucial cog in India's white-ball cricket, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has resumed his training after an injury forced the player out of commission mid-way through the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Pandya suffered an unfortunate ankle injury during India's tie against Bangladesh in Pune, where while attempting to stop a straight drive, the new Mumbai Indians captain twisted his ankle as the boot slid off the ball.

Pandya, 30, has kicked off 2024 on a positive note, sharing an Instagram reel where the highly talented cricketer could be seen training in a gym doing various exercises.

The Instagram post was shared with the caption, "Progress, everyday ✌🏽", where apart from Pandya, his son Agastya, and his pets could be seen enjoying with the cricketer.

As per reports, Pandya is likely to miss India's upcoming T20Is against Afghanistan but is expected to regain full fitness for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Pandya has been groomed as India's next T20I captain, however, the current injury has put his appointment on the back-burner. Any concrete decision on India's T20I captain for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and United States of America will be taken after IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is most likely to continue leading India against Afghanistan, where the first T20I begins on January 11.
