MS Dhoni Keeping For CSK - (Source : AFP)
In a significant development, there are reports that India legend MS Dhoni will return to play one more season for Chennai Super Kings and will take part in IPL 2026. Amid the retirement rumours, the 44-year-old is planning to leave the franchise on a high and will play in the upcoming edition, which will be his last.
According to a report from Revsportz, MS Dhoni is delighted by the return of N. Srinivasan as CSK chairman, whom he share a great bond with, which has actually prompted thala to push himself to play another year.
Srinivasan's Return Influences Dhoni's IPL Future
Notably, the internet has been guessing Dhoni's final season with CSK for years now and even for IPL 2026, there was an uncertainty whether the former India captain will make himself available or not for the next edition. However, now it seems that the fans are fortunate and might witness their idol for one more year in action as Thala will be nearing 45 when IPL 2026 ends.
It is worth noting that MS Dhoni also led the franchise in 2025 following Ruturaj Gaikwad's injury, but the Men in Yellow suffered their worst-even finish as they ended up last on the table, which happened for the first time in their history. Thus, Dhoni has the motivation to finish on a high and also aim for the one final time to clinch his sixth IPL title, a feat achieved by no other team.
Notably, Srinivasan was the one who helped Dhoni grew with CSK in initial years. However, conflict of interest and betting charges, forced him to step down in 2015. Nonetheless, Srinivasan has assumed the chairman’s role in May, taking over from his cousin, R. Srinivasan. Further, his daughter Rupa has been appointed as the wholetime director.
Dhoni Enjoys Time Off In America
At present, these are all speculations and nothing concrete has been remarked from the CSK camp or MS Dhoni. Further, the latter is enjoying his time away from cricket and is in USA to watch tennis.
He was recently spotted watching Novak Djokovic in action during his quarter-final match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in America.
