Sohail Tanvir is the new head of Pakistan’s junior selection committee, appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The first task he will have as chair of the junior selection committee is to choose the Pakistan U-19 team for the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup, set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between December 8 and 17.

In another significant development, as per cricketpakistan.com, legendary batsman Younis Khan will coach Pakistan's junior cricket teams, focusing on the development of young players.

Younis Khan To Join Sohail Tanvir To Help Pakistan Junior Team

"According to sources, following a recent meeting with Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, it was agreed that Younis would be responsible for coaching and developing the junior teams. However, the finalization of details is pending until both Younis and Ashraf’s return from their respective trips to Dubai and India," the report read.

Younis has indicated a desire to assist younger players by coaching, and it is highly anticipated that the terms of the verbally agreed-upon contract will be made public upon his return.

Following their unexpected elimination from the 2023 World Cup in India, Pakistan made drastic adjustments to their setup. The Men in Green, captained by Babar Azam, had four wins and five losses during the league stage, finishing in fifth place.

After the Asia Cup, Pakistan U-19 will go to Sri Lanka to play the ICC U-19 World Cup from January 13 to February 4.
