Pakistan's Asia Cup 2025 squad has been announced, and as always, selectors have dished out some surprises. One of them is the inclusion of Mohammad Wasim Jr., who was not in the scheme of things in T20Is in the last few series.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. Went Wicketless In His Last ODI And T20I Match
The right-arm pacer is a quality bowler, though, and has played in all three formats for Pakistan. He can notch up speeds in excess of 140 and is known for his excellent death-bowling skills. The cricketer last played for Pakistan in April 2025, but it was in the ODI format against the Kiwis where he went wicketless.
The speedster's last T20I match also came against New Zealand. It was in January 2024 in Christchurch. In that match, Mohammad Wasim Jr. bowled three overs in which he went for 24 runs and did not pick a single wicket. Unfortunately for Pakistan, they lost that game by seven wickets.
Mohammad Wasim's Chance To Emulate Good Domestic Form At International Level
Overall, Mohammad Wasim Jr. has picked 36 wickets in the 29 matches he has played. He has picked up his wickets at an average of 20.86 and was in good form in PSL 2025. The cricketer has also played T20 cricket across the globe and has 117 wickets in 99 matches. He recently picked up three wickets in two matches for Pakistan Shaheens.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. will now get a chance to first impress in the tri-series in the UAE. He has the ability to use the long handle to great effect and could be a useful asset for Pakistan in the Asia Cup if he gets it right. However, there would also be pressure on the pacer to prove himself, as he has been preferred over other bowlers who have been part of the setup in recent times.
