Perth Scorchers had a memorable outing in the twelfth match of the Top End T20 tournament as they swatted aside Bangladesh-A in a riveting clash. Chasing 124, Perth Scorchers went past the finish line with two overs to spare, with Joel Curtis and Matthew Spoors playing crucial knocks.

Scorchers Hunt Collectively To Restrict BAN-A To A Modest Total

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh-A had the worst possible start to their innings, losing the crucial wickets of Mohammad Naim, Saif Hasan and Jishan Alam. Mahidul Islam Akon also fell prey to Corey Rocchiccioli cheaply, leaving the Scorchers reeling at 40 for four.

Afif Hossain played a patient knock of 42 runs, while valuable cameos from Nurul Hasan, Rakibul Hasan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury ensured Bangladesh went past the 100-run mark.

Bryce Jackson was the pick of the bowlers from Perth Scorchers, scalping three wickets for 45 runs.

Rakibul Bowls A Superb Spell, But Curtis, Spoors Guide Scorchers To Glory

In response, Perth Scorchers lost a few early wickets in the form of Baxter Holt, Jayden Goodwin and skipper Sam Fanning inside the first eight overs, thanks to Rakibul Hasan's magical spell. Although Teague Wyllie looked determined during his 31-run knock, Nayeem Hasan got his prized scalp to swing the game in Bangladesh's favour.

However, keeper-batter Joel Curtis and Matthew Spoors formed a valiant partnership, steadily guiding the Scorchers towards the target. Curtis smashed four glorious boundaries for his 34-ball 44*, while Spoors played a quick-fire 16-ball 24*, making sure the Scorchers sealed a comfortable win in the end.

The victory helped Perth Scorchers earn two valuable points, while Bangladesh-A slipped to eighth on the points table. The Tigers will take on Northern Territory in their next group-stage match on August 19.
