The pace storm is headed for the desert! Newly-formed franchise Quetta Qavalry have officially roped in former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir for their debut season in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2025, which kicks off on November 18.
Amir adds firepower to the Qavalry
The announcement came on the team’s Instagram handle, where they introduced Amir as “You asked for it. You waited for it. Now he’s here — Ladies and Gentlemen, Mohammad Amir. The Desert Spear, The Global Legend of Quetta Qavalry.” And if anything, that caption says it all: the Qavalry mean business.
Mohammad Amir’s addition gives Quetta Qavalry instant credibility and experience. The left-arm pacer, known for his swing and big-game temperament, brings experience galore from franchise cricket around the world.
Amir has turned out in almost every major T20 league: from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) to The Hundred, ILT20, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Lanka Premier League (LPL). Across formats and conditions, he has been a wicket-taker everywhere he is gone.
The numbers tell their own story: 458 wickets in 348 T20 matches at a tidy economy rate of 7.15. He has also played 62 T20Is for Pakistan where he has taken 65 wickets and remains one of the most seasoned quicks still going strong in global franchise cricket.
Qavalry building a star-studded lineup
Amir joins a growing list of heavyweights who have already signed up for the Quetta Qavalry’s maiden campaign in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2025. The franchise recently confirmed the signings of Sikandar Raza and Andries Gous in Category A, Imran Tahir in Category B and UAE’s explosive batter Muhammad Waseem.
Earlier this week, they also announced West Indies’ Jason Holder and England’s power-hitter Liam Livingstone as marquee names. At the helm will be former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat, who takes over as head coach.
A Gladiator spirit in the desert
The Quetta Qavalry might be new but they come from familiar hands. The team is owned by Nadeem Omar, who also owns the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Officially unveiled on October 10, the Qavalry will compete in the ninth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which runs from November 18 to 30.
