Pakistan star cricketer Babar Azam had an eventful 31st birthday on Wednesday, October 15, during the first Test match against South Africa at his home ground in Lahore. The day started well for the former all-format captain, as he played a key role in Pakistan’s 93-run victory.
Babar scored a steady 42 runs from 72 balls on a tough pitch, helping Pakistan set a strong total of 277 in the second innings. In reply, South Africa were bowled out for just 183, giving Pakistan a 1–0 lead in the two-match series.

However, the celebrations took an unexpected turn after the match ended. While the team was winding down at Gaddafi Stadium, a young fan managed to breach security and enter the Pakistan dressing room area. The fan reportedly climbed over the Majid Khan Enclosure and casually walked toward the players’ area, hoping to meet Babar on his birthday.
A video circulating online shows the fan climbing into the restricted zone, which quickly caused alarm among team staff members nearby. Fortunately, the alert coaching staff noticed him immediately and called for security. Realising he was caught, the fan panicked and tried to flee by climbing back down.
But seeing security officials closing in, he stopped, apologised, and pleaded for forgiveness. Security personnel then escorted him out of the area without any major disturbance.
At the time of the incident, Babar was not in the dressing room. Later, when he was told what had happened, he was reportedly shocked and concerned about how easily someone managed to get so close to the players. However, it is important to note that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet made an official statement about the security lapse.
Despite the scare, the team and fans are now focusing on the second and final Test of the series, which will take place in Rawalpindi starting October 20.
