Babar Azam has long been recognized as one of the leading T20 batsmen, having scored over 4,000 runs in T20 Internationals. However, his batting strike rate, which is currently at 129.9, has frequently been a point of contention.

The former Pakistan captain has called for more intent from Pakistan skipper  Babar Azam ahead of the World Cup.

Babar, who was reappointed as the captain of Pakistan's T20 team after Shaheen Afridi was replaced, is a crucial player for Pakistan in the World Cup.

Misbah Insists Babar Azam Must Hit a Strike Rate of 160-170

Babar Azam opened for Pakistan in the last T20 final where they reached the finals. However, Saim Ayub is currently opening for Pakistan alongside Mohammad Rizwan, with Babar batting at number three.

At this position, Pakistan cannot afford Babar to slow down, as he needs to anchor and keep the scoreboard ticking as well.

Recently, Babar has faced criticism for his slow batting style. Misbah's statements came in response to this criticism, urging Babar to adopt a more aggressive approach.

“Outside noises affects you somehow. However, great players who are mentally strong takes motivation from that (outside noises). And we saw that in Ireland, where he improved his strike rate. Hopefully, he bats like that. Teams basically requires that sort of an innings from him. If the situation demands anchor-ship, then he is an anchor. Potentially you have to keep yourself at that level that you can hit at those 160-170 or 200 strike rates.” said Misbah.

Babar Azam was aggressive in the recent Ireland series, which Pakistan won 2-1. However, fans and experts expect Babar to maintain this aggressive approach in bigger games.

Pakistan faces India on June 9th in the T20 World Cup, where Babar's performance will be crucial.
