Babar Azam made a new milestone in T20 International (T20I) cricket and surpassed Virat Kohli for the most 50-plus scores. In the series decider against Ireland on May 14 (Tuesday). He made an impressive 42-ball 75 runs that helped him to reach his 39th fifty-plus score in T20Is, overtaking Virat Kohli's 38. 

This achievement highlighted Azam's consistency and his ability to play crucial innings under pressure and employed classic cricketing shots to anchor Pakistan's batting.

Babar Azam Surpass Virat Kohli's Record 

Following the first Twenty T20I upset, Pakistan recovered to win the next two matches to win the series. On Tuesday, they defeated the hosts in Dublin by six wickets. 

The comparison between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam has been made for a very long time as they are renowned for their consistency and ability to anchor the innings with traditional cricketing shots, along with patience and technique that are crucial even in the fast-paced T20 format.

Among the other records, Babar Azam scored 25 runs in one over most by any Pakistan player. He smashed four sixes in Benjamin white's over for the first time in his career. 

Earlier in the match, the Pakistan captain won the toss and decided to field first. Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker scored 73 runs off 41 balls, with 13 boundaries and one six. Andrew Balbirnie (35) and Harry Tector (30) made significant contributions to the team.

In the run chase,  Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added a century partnership to stabilize the innings.

After completing the series against Ireland, Pakistan will face England and this will be the final opportunity for the Men in Green to find the perfect playing combination and have their final practice ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
