In what comes as a disheartening news for Mumbai Indians and their fans, Sri Lankan speedster Dilshan Madushanka will likely be out of the initial IPL 2024 matches due to an injury.

The left-arm pacer sustained a hamstring injury in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh and has been ruled out of the decider scheduled in Chattogram on Monday.

Notably, the speedster damaged his hamstring during the second ODI, where he could bowl only 6.4 overs before walking off the field. His remaining overs were eventually completed by the all-rounders, Janith Liyanage and Charith Asalanka.

A talented pacer who can make the new ball talk, Madushanka bagged a whopping INR 4.6 Crore deal in the IPL mini-auction, riding on his exploits in the ODI World Cup.

He was the second Lankan cricketer to join the five-time champions besides Nuwan Thushara, who has grabbed the attention through his unique slinging action.

Although his absence is a significant setback for the Lankans as they head to the series finale, Mumbai Indians have Australia’s experienced pacer Jason Behrendorff to play as their power play specialist.

So, despite missing the Lankan quick, Mumbai Indians needn’t worry, with Behrendorff and Gerald Coetzee raring to spearhead their bowling attack alongside Bumrah and skipper Hardik Pandya
