Mayank Agarwal, after going unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been roped in by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The 34-year-old is set to replace Devdutt Padikkal, who has been ruled out of the tournament owing to a right hamstring injury.

Agarwal, a veteran of over 100 IPL matches, started out his IPL journey back in 2011 for the RCB franchise. The elegant right-handed batter spent three seasons with the franchise before shifting to Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2014 edition of the tournament.

Mayank Agarwal recently played domestic cricket for Karnataka during the 2024-25 home season in India. Once a prominent opening batter for the Indian team in Tests, the cricketer played the last of his 26 international matches back in March 2022 in Bengaluru.

In 21 Tests, Agarwal has aggregated 1,488 runs at an average of 41.33, plundering six half-centuries and four tons in the process. The Karnataka-based batter failed to replicate his Test success in ODIs, as he managed to tally just 86 runs in five innings of the format.

Mayank Agarwal will be aiming to get back into national reckoning by putting up a prolific performance with the bat for the RCB franchise this IPL 2025 season.
