When Sai Sudharsan was selected for the Indian Test team, many eyebrows were raised as the batter had a domestic average of less than 40 and other players had better numbers in first-class cricket. However, the team management went ahead with their gut feeling and also backed Sudharsan on the back of his IPL performance.

The player received his debut cap from Cheteshwar Pujara and he was asked to bat at number 3 after the dismissal of KL Rahul, who looked fluid, right from ball one. However, the dream debut hope turned out to be a nightmare as Sudharsan was dismissed for a 4-ball duck.

Just at the stroke of lunch, Stokes bowled a length ball down the leg side as the debutant couldn't get the ideal connection and the ball went straight into the hands of the English keeper. This was not the start Sudharsan would have hoped for and with him getting dismissed for a duck, we look at the Indian players who got dismissed without opening their account on debut.

We have taken Indian stars who got knocked out inside 6 balls of their debut.

How Sudharsan's wicket brought England back in the contest

At one stage, India were 91/0 and were aiming to end the session without losing a single wicket. But the question changed as KL Rahul, who was looking in ominous touch was dismissed for 42. However, the turning point came as the southpaw was sent back by Stokes, right before lunch break.

Now, from 91/0, India is suddenly 92/2 and England have recaptured the momentum as they roared back into the contest with back-to-back wickets. Now, India will have a new batter at the crease after lunch and England will be looking to get a third quick scalp as well.
