India’s Under-19 cricket team launched their England tour with a commanding 231-run victory over an English Invitational XI in a 50-over warm-up match that saw U19 talent Harvansh Singh Pangalia shine.

Electing to field first, the hosts struck early, reducing India to 91/5 by the 13th over. Openers Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, both IPL prospects, fell cheaply for 18 runs combined. Kanishk Chouhan (79) and Rahul Kumar (73) then revived the innings with a 140-run partnership off 112 balls.

Pangalia Wreaks Havoc At No. 9

At 251/7 in the 36th over, Pangalia joined RS Ambrish (72 off 47 balls). The pair added 126 runs, with Pangalia accelerating dramatically after Ambrish’s dismissal. He reached his fifty in 33 balls and unleashed a brutal assault in the death overs.

In the final three overs, Harvansh Pangalia hammered England’s bowlers, hitting nine sixes overall. He began the 48th over with back-to-back sixes off Manny Lumsden, followed by two no-balls. After another six off Matthew Firbank, he finished the innings by smashing Lumsden for 4, 6, 6, 6, the last maximum bringing up his century off just 52 balls. His second fifty consumed a mere 18 deliveries.

England Folds In Front Of India

Chasing 443, England folded for 211 despite captain Will Bennison’s 103. India’s bowlers sealed the emphatic win ahead of their five Youth ODIs and two Tests against England U19, starting June 27.

Pangalia, who plays for Saurashtra’s youth team, had earlier showcased similar power with a century against Australia U19 last October. India’s total featured 37 fours and 25 sixes (298 runs in boundaries alone).
