Aiden Markram Tons Up To Put SA On Top

Australian tail frustrated South African bowlers by going past 200 on Day 3 after resuming the innings at 144-8. Mitchell Starc led Australia’s fightback by composing 58* hard-earned runs from 136 balls before Aiden Markam picked up the final wicket of the innings at 207.

Chasing a steep target of 282, South Africa lost Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder to Mitchell Starc to slip to 70-2. Opener Aiden Markram titled the tide back in South Africa’s favour by sharing an unbeaten 143-run partnership with captain Temba Bavuma (65*) as the Proteas reached a commanding 213-2 from 56 overs by stumps. Markram himself notched up 102* of those runs from 159 balls to bring up his eighth Test ton, as South Africa reached within 69 runs of attaining historic WTC 2025 glory at Lord’s in London.

Finn Allen Shatters Records With 51-Ball 151 In MLC 2025 Opener

New Zealand batting sensation Finn Allen clobbered 151 runs from just 51 balls to light up the MLC 2025 opener in Oakland. Opening for San Francisco Unicorns, Allen launched five fours and 19 huge sixes, a record for most sixes in a T20 innings, to catapult his team to a staggering 269-5 from 20 overs. Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Hassan Khan also unleashed swift 30s to turbo-charge the innings.

Later in the game, Haris Rauf and Hassan Khan picked up three wickets each to fold up Glenn Maxwell’s Washington Freedom for just 146 as the Unicorns walked away with a huge 123-run win.

Coach Gambhir Flies Back To India From ENG Tour

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir flew back to India amid team’s training sessions in England owing to a family emergency. As reported by ESPNCricinfo, fellow Indian support staff members like Sitanshu Kotak, Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel will be taking charge of the team’s training camp in Gambhir’s absence.

Nonetheless, the Indian team is currently in Beckenham to play an intra-squad match. India’s five-match Test series against England will launch from June 20 onwards in Headingley, Leeds.

Babar Azam Joins Sydney Sixers For BBL 2025-26

Legendary Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been roped in by Sydney Sixers for the 2025-26 Big Bash League (BBL) season later this year. The cricketer was inducted into the Sixers as one of their pre-draft signings, and his appearance in BBL 2025-26 will mark his first crack at Australia’s annual T20 Bash.

With 320 T20 games, including 128 internationals, Babar already holds a legion of 20-overs experience, having appeared in prominent T20 leagues like the PSL, LPL, BPL, CPL and Vitality T20 Blast.

Ecclestone Returns As England Name Squad For India T20Is

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named a strong 14-player squad for the England women’s team for their upcoming five-match T20I series against India later this month. Star spinner Sophie Ecclestone will be making her return to international cricket through the series after attaining full recovery from her injury.

Nat Sciver-Brunt will continue to lead England after thrashing West Indies at home, and she will be accompanied by fellow star players like Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean among others. The series between England Women and India Women will be played between June 28 and July 12.
