The third season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) has just begun, but Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are already facing a tough challenge. According to India Today, their star bowler, Shreyanka Patil, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury concerns. This news comes as a significant setback for the team, which is already struggling with multiple injuries.

According to reports, all-rounder Sneh Rana has been seen with the RCB squad for the past few days. While no official announcement has been made, sources suggest that she could be a potential replacement for Patil if RCB decides to bring in a new player. Rana had gone unsold in the last WPL auction after being released by Gujarat Giants, making her return to the league an interesting development.

Shreyanka Shares Emotional Message

Before the official news of her injury broke, Shreyanka Patil hinted at her condition through a social media post. She wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“Heartbroken, but I will fly again.”

Shreyanka Patil was one of the standout performers in WPL 2024. She won the Purple Cap, awarded to the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, and played a crucial role in RCB’s final victory against Delhi Capitals. Losing a player of her caliber is a big setback for RCB’s title defense this season.

RCB's injury troubles don’t stop at Shreyanka Patil. They are also missing key players such as Asha Sobhana, who is out with a knee injury, Sophie Devine, who is on a break, Sophie Molineux, who is dealing with injury concerns, and Kate Cross, who has withdrawn for injury rehab. With these absences, RCB’s bowling attack looks significantly weaker, especially in the spin department.
