WPL 2025 is off to a rollicking start as Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defending champions clinched the opening game off a season by five wickets. They chased down a record target and the match turned out to be quite an entertaining affair. RCB was clearly the crowd favourite despite match being played in Gujarat, the home ground of RCB's opponents Gujarat Giants.

The two of the most popular players in the most high-profile team of the league are Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry. The former is the captain of the franchise and one of the leading batters in world cricket while another in the legend of the game. In the first game, Smriti Mandhana could not make much of an impact, but Perry did and played a crucial knock of 57 from just 34 balls when the team was under the pump.

RCB Off To A Winning Start To WPL 2025

Richa Ghosh then finished things off with a breathtaking knock and now after the match, Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry were spotted discussing something on the ground. It seemed quite a serious discussion with Smriti Mandhana looking animated and seem to be telling something to Perry that happened during the game. The Australian was keenly hearing what her captain was talking and it could be the mistakes they committed in the game despite winning it in the end.

RCB are the defending champions and would be hoping to continue the winning start to the tournament and their fans would be itching to see both Perry and Mandhana bat together in the upcoming games. Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, would need to sort out their bowling as they failed to deliver a total of over 200 despite bagging early wickets in the second half.
