Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by the legendary MS Dhoni, are having a tough time in the IPL 2025. They’ve only managed to win one out of their six matches so far and are currently sitting at the bottom of the points table with just 2 points. The team has lost five matches in a row, and if they want to make it to the playoffs, they’ll have to turn things around quickly.
Sourav Ganguly Still Believes In Dhoni
Despite CSK’s poor performance, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly still has full faith in MS Dhoni. In a recent chat on the YouTube channel YourFoodLab with Chef Sanjyot Keer, Ganguly spoke about his favourite teams and players in the current season.
He mentioned that in T20 cricket, anything can happen, and teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings are all strong contenders. According to Ganguly, even when the team is in a bad position, Dhoni’s leadership and experience can still make a big difference.
“It is difficult to say who will win because anyone can win in T20, but there are good teams. Sunrisers (Hyderabad), Delhi Capitals, we can never write off MS Dhoni, no matter how old he is. Chennai Super Kings, Bombay (Mumbai Indians), it is a good team. Gujarat always surprises, in the first two years, they won with a weak team, Shubman Gill is also in good form but Hardik Pandya used to make a lot of difference for them, he is not there, so I find these four teams very strong,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly also discussed how some teams are missing key players.
“KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) look slightly weak since last year because Phil Salt, Shreyas Iyer, and Mitchell Starc are not there, all three were important players in their team, they are not there,” the former cricketer added.
Ayush Mhatre To Join CSK Camp
As if CSK’s problems weren’t enough, their star player Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow fracture. To fill the gap, the team has brought in a young 17-year-old player, Ayush Mhatre, who will be joining them before their upcoming match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
