According to emerging reports, legendary Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan could be shown the exit door as LSG's mentor following the Super Giants' horror show in the IPL 2025. Led by Rishabh Pant, Lucknow suffered a dramatic downfall in the competition, failing to qualify for the playoffs despite winning five of their first eight group-stage matches.

LSG Likely To Part Ways With Zaheer Khan As Team Mentor

Lucknow Super Giants are considering revamping their coaching setup following their heartbreaking group-stage exit from the IPL 2025. According to Cricbuzz, there are reports of dissatisfaction within the squad and the management, with team mentor Zaheer Khan finding himself in the firing line.

It's worth mentioning that LSG roped in the former Indian fast bowler as their team mentor for a one-year term ahead of the tournament's 2025 season.

While head coach Justin Langer has also earned criticism for his coaching style, the SuperGiants' underwhelming performance has apparently forced the LSG management to reconsider Zaheer's contract renewal for the next season.

Thus, Zaheer, who shares a great bond with LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, is on the verge of a contract termination following the team's disastrous returns in the IPL 2025.

LSG's Epic Downfall In IPL 2025

Under Rishabh Pant's leadership, LSG had a sensational start to the IPL 2025, emerging victorious in five of their first eight matches. However, as soon as key batter Nicholas Pooran's purple patch ended, the Lucknow-based franchise struggled to get going, losing five of their subsequent six games.

As a result, LSG finished seventh on the group-stage points table with only six wins across fourteen matches. This was the second consecutive year the Super Giants failed to enter the playoffs, suffering a group-stage elimination despite initial exploits.
