In a recent development, India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified scrutiny on celebrity endorsements of online betting apps. Several former cricketers have been summoned for questioning under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This has been included as part of probes into alleged illegal betting platforms such as 1xBet.

Among the most high‑profile names are Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, and, more recently, Robin Uthappa. Having said this, in this article, let's take a look at Indian Cricketers who have been summoned by ED in 2025.

Suresh Raina

Former cricketer and CSK star player Suresh Raina was summoned by the ED and appeared before the agency on August 13, 2025. He was also questioned in connection with the 1xBet betting app case.

The ED’s interest relates to his endorsement of 1xBet and whether his promotional activities are linked to money laundering under the PMLA. According to reports, questions were asked about his financial transactions related to these endorsements and whether he is aware of the app’s operations.

Shikhar Dhawan

The next cricketer who was questioned by ED was Shikhar Dhawan. The former star cricketer was summoned by the ED on September 4, 2025. He was questioned for about eight hours in the 1xBet betting app‑linked money laundering case.

The ED has questioned Dhawan’s role in promoting the app - through endorsements or advertisements and its financial ties. It is vital to note that his statement was recorded under the PMLA. The main aim of the agency was to clarify his connections with the app, the money flow, and whether he had knowledge of any practices.

Robin Uthappa

The most recent addition to this is list is former cricketer Robin Uthappa. He is scheduled to appear before the agency on September 22, 2025, for questioning in the same betting app‑linked PMLA/money laundering case.

It is important to mention that ED's summons suggests that Uthappa is being looked at for possible involvement in the promotion of an 'illegal online betting app,' and for financial transactions that may be linked to such promotion under the scope of money laundering legislation. Exact details of his involvement are not fully public yet.

Yuvraj Singh

The ED has also summoned Yuvraj Singh in connection with its probe into the alleged illegal online betting platform. The stylish cricketer has been called on September 23, 2025. Yuvraj has been called to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case linked to a platform named 1xBet.
