In a major development, it has been reported that Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian cricket team will not accept the winner’s trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi if they win the final on September 28, 2025.

India May Snub ACC President Mohsin Naqvi

According to a report from PTI as quoted by Hindustan Times, the Indian team has made it clear that they do not wish to share the presentation dais with Naqvi. The ACC president, is traditionally expected to hand over the trophy to the winning side.

“…it is reliably learnt that if India make the tournament’s final on September 28, the players won’t be sharing the presentation dais with Naqvi, who is expected to hand over the winner’s trophy as ACC head," reports news agency PTI.

The report further added that the players will continue their decision to not shake hands with Pakistan players throughout the tournament. This policy is expected to remain in place should India and Pakistan face each other again in the Super Four stage, or possibly in the final.

This diplomatic standoff has already sparked protests from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which has lodged an official complaint with the ICC. The PCB claims that match referee Andy Pycroft instructed the captains not to shake hands during the toss in the India-Pakistan clash.

PCB Escalates Protest, Threatens Withdrawal

Taking it a step further, the PCB has reportedly threatened to withdraw from their upcoming group stage match against the UAE if their protest is not addressed and Pycroft is not removed as match referee for the tournament.

With tensions escalating both on and off the field, the Asia Cup 2025 is now at the centre of a diplomatic storm. After the India-Pakistan clash, the 'Men In Blue' are at the top of the points table with two wins in two matches they have played so far.
