In the high-pressure series decider, the 3rd T20I, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. Despite the importance of the game, the result was quite one-sided, as the Tigers dominated the proceedings with the bat as well as with the ball. After restricting the Lankans to a below-par total, Tanzid Hasan played a match-winning knock in the second inning to guide his team to a series victory.

Mahedi Hasan Weaves His Spin Magic To Rattle Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka had batted first but lost Kusal Mendis to Shoriful Islam in the very first over. Despite having 14 runs on the board, Mendis took a risk and paid the price. With momentum on his side, Mahedi Hasan ran a riot.

He dismissed Kusal Perera and Dinesh Chandimal inside the first 6 overs to reduce Sri Lanka to 3 wickets down with just 34 runs on the board. Before the Lankans could recover, Hasan once again struck the golden wicket of skipper Charith Asalanka.

The last hope of Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka, was holding the torch from one end with 46 off 39 balls. However, Mahedi Hasan trapped him icn a caught and bowled dismissal to complete his four-wicket-haul.

Sri Lanka couldn’t recover from Hasan’s carnage and could only score 132 runs in the first inning.

Bangladesh Fight Back To Clinch T20I Series

The target of 133 runs proved to be a cakewalk for Bangladesh. Nuwan Thushara initially rattled the Tigers by trapping Parvez Emon in an LBW dismissal on the very first ball of the chase.

However, Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das stabilised the innings with a 74-run partnership. Hasan scored his runs at a brisk pace, and his entertaining inning of 73 runs off 47 balls included 6 towering sixes.

Kamindu Mendis did get a breakthrough in the 9th over to dismiss Litton on 32, but the required run was already under control by then. Tanzid and Towhid Hridoy knitted a 59-run partnership to accomplish the chase in 16.3 overs and register a commanding 8-wicket victory.

With that dominant win, Bangladesh have won the 3-game T20I series against Sri Lanka by 2-1.
