Legendary footballer, Lionel Messi is all set to visit India and grace the iconic Wankhede Stadium on December 14 for a mega event that promises to be nothing short of legendary. From watching sixes fly into the stands to witnessing a footballing god in person, Wankhede is about to script another unforgettable chapter.

Lionel Messi To Visit India Again

According to a Times of India report, the organisers of the event, Wizcraft, have already approached the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for permission and it has been granted. The MCA’s Apex Council gave the green signal in a recent meeting.

The event will be ticketed. Moreover, the report stated that a couple of top Indian cricketers are expected to attend the event too.

India Tour Incoming

Mumbai is not the only lucky city. From December 13 to 15, Messi is expected to travel across Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata, another temple of sport, is set to host a grand felicitation ceremony with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reportedly attending.

The Kolkata leg of the tour will also see Messi hosting a football workshop for kids, launching a football clinic and flagging off a seven-a-side tournament dubbed The GOAT Cup. Fitting name!

Kerala Could Host Messi And Argentina For A Friendly

While all eyes are on December, there is more footballing gold in store. Back in June, Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman revealed that the Argentina national team led by Messi will likely play a friendly at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram in October or November. The state government plans to host the team as official guests and roll out the red carpet for them.

India’s Second Date With The GOAT

Messi’s visit to India isn’t a debut. In 2011, he played a friendly against Venezuela at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium. But this time, it’s different. He is not just playing. He’s being celebrated, honoured and welcomed like the global icon he is.

From Salt Lake to Wankhede, from goals to glory, Messi’s India visit is shaping up to be a blockbuster. And for Indian fans, it is not just an event. It’s a dream come true.
