Veteran Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have taken a hit in the latest ICC Test rankings. Virat Kohli didn't feature in the first two Tests against England and, thus, slipped one spot to the seventh spot in the rankings.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma hasn't had great outings with the bat in the first two Tests. He managed to score just 27 runs across two innings in the second Test match in Vizag.

As a result, the 36-year-old batter lost one place and moved to 13th in the rankings. Meanwhile, young Indian batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have made major strides in the ICC Test batting rankings. The duo exhibited stellar performances with the bat in the recently concluded Test against England in Visakhapatnam.

Jaiswal laid the foundation of the win in the second Test with a sensational double-century in the first innings. It helped him leapfrog to number 29 in the rankings. Jaiswal boasts a career-best rating of 632 points. On the other hand, Shubman Gill broke out of his slump in form by scoring a memorable ton. Gill has now moved to 38th spot in the batters' rankings.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, who are no longer a part of India's Test team, continue to go down in the rankings. Pujara moves to 37th, while Rahane finds himself at 47th spot.

Williamson sits at the top of the ICC Test rankings; Smith follows him at second

Kane Williamson recently became only the fifth New Zealand cricketer to have scored twin tons in a Test match. He exerts his dominance at the top of the ICC Test rankings with 864 rating points.

Steve Smith, who currently has 818 rating points to his name, is following him at number two. Joe Root, meanwhile, slips down one spot to take the number three position.

Root has 797 rating points, followed by the likes of Daryl Mitchell (786), Babar Azam (768) and Usman Khawaja (765) at fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively.

England's batter, Harry Brook, pulled out of the five-match Test series against India. He took a hit in the rankings, moving to number eight spot. Brook currently has 758 points under his name.
