Indian batting behemoths Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will reportedly retire from ODI cricket later this year. According to Dainik Jagran, the two cricketers will conclude their international careers after India’s upcoming ODI series against Australia. Amid reports of their retirement before the 2027 ODI World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) broke its silence and claimed that there have been no discussions about their playing future.

Shubman Gill Likely To Be Named Vice-Captain For Asia Cup: Report

Indian Test skipper Shubman Gill will likely be appointed as team vice-captain for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE. According to a RevSportz report, the dynamic Indian batter might also succeed legendary opening batter Rohit Sharma as Team India’s next ODI captain. Shubman was appointed as India’s Test captain a couple of months ago following the retirements of Sharma and Virat Kohli. Under his leadership, Team India levelled the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series 2025 in England by a 2-2 margin.

Babar Azam Falls For A Duck Against West Indies

Pakistan batting great Babar Azam fell for a duck against West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Batting at number three, the legendary cricketer arrived to the crease at the start of the ninth over following the early dismissal of young opener Saim Ayub against West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales. Babar’s innings lasted just three deliveries before he got knocked over by Seales as Pakistan slipped to 37-2 inside the first 10 overs of the match.

Babar Azam’s latest batting failure also extended his century drought in international cricket to nearly to two years.

Tim David, Hazlewood Flatten SA To Take Australia 1-0 Up

Australia outclassed South Africa by 17 runs at the Marrara Oval in Darwin in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first, Tim David blasted 83 off just 52 balls to lift Australia from a precarious 75-6 to a competitive 178 in 20 overs. Cameron Green also muscled 35 off just 13 balls to negate Kagiso Rabada’s opening burst. Kwena Maphaka picked up four wickets for the Proteas to claim figures of 4-20.

In response, South Africa accrued just 161-9 despite featuring Ryan Rickelton’s fighting 55-ball 71. Fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Ben Dwarshuis picked up three wickets each in the innings to headline Australia’s big win.

NZ Women Use CSK Academy To Prepare For World Cup 2025

The New Zealand Women’s team is undergoing a training camp at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Academy to prepare for the upcoming 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India.
