Former Indian cricketer and head coach Sanjay Bangar's son, Aryan, has made headlines with an emotional and inspiring announcement on Monday (November 11) that has sent ripples through the cricketing world. Aryan, recently revealed her journey of transitioning into a trans-woman, changing her name to Anaya Bangar. 

The revelation, which came via a heartfelt post on her social media, sheds light on her transformative experience. She is currently based in Manchester and actively playing county-level cricket, opened up about her deep connection to the sport that has been a central part of her life since childhood. 

Sanjay Bangar's Son Inspiring Journey 

In a Instagram post, she shared her journey of self-discovery and the emotional toll it has taken on her passion for cricket.

"From a young age, cricket has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I watched my dad with awe as he represented and coached the country, and it wasn't long before I started dreaming about following in his footsteps. The passion, the discipline, and the dedication he showed to the sport were deeply inspiring to me."

Anaya explained that her love for the sport drove her to dedicate years of her life to honing her skills, with the goal of representing her country like her father did. However, her journey took a turn as she began her transition. 

"As a trans woman on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), my body has changed drastically. "I've been losing the muscle mass, strength, muscle memory, and athletic abilities I once relied on. The game I've loved for so long is slipping away from me." she revealed.

ECB's Recent Policy On Transgender Players

In a significant development, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) took a bold step regarding the participation of transgender women in elite women’s cricket. Under the new policy, effective from 2025, transgender women who have gone through male puberty will be banned from competing in the top two tiers of women's domestic cricket.
