Star Indian batter KL Rahul has teased out a mysterious ‘announcement’ with a social media update. On Thursday, August 22, the cricketer took to his Instagram account and shared a cryptic message for his fans and followers.

The 32-year-old batter recently represented the Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka for a short ODI series.

On Thursday, August 22, KL Rahul shared a cryptic story on his Instagram account. In the caption, the wicketkeeper-batter wrote:

“I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…”

Several social media users and Indian cricket fans speculated the ‘announcement’ to be a possible retirement news from the star batter. However, many fans also believed it to be a potential IPL update regarding next year’s 2025 season.

Regardless, KL Rahul is enjoying a break from international cricket. He might return to India’s setup for their upcoming two-match Test series against the visiting Bangladesh team at home.

Earlier this year, Rahul played the IPL 2024 season in India as the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise. At the halfway stage of the tournament, the dashing wicketkeeper-batter was spotted receiving a seemingly-heavy scolding from LSG franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka outside the boundary line after team’s crushing defeat to eventual runners-up SRH.

Rahul, who made his international debut back in December 2014, has so far represented the nation in 50 Tests, 77 ODIs and 72 T20I matches.
