Indian wicketkeeper-batter, KL Rahul has fully recovered from his thigh injury and is all set to make a comeback in the international arena in what comes as a massive boost to the team.

Rahul set to join Team India for Asia Cup 2023

According to a Times of India report, Rahul is likely to be selected for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which will take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17.

Since sustaining a serious thigh injury during a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023, Rahul has been conspicuously absent from the cricket field. The injury led to surgery and an intense rehabilitation phase at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

According to a source, the coaches and medical experts at the NCA are satisfied with Rahul's progress and recovery. The source further confirmed that Rahul is "completely fit and available for selection" for the Asia Cup 2023.

Rahul has also been sharing his fitness updates on social media, showing his readiness for a return to competitive cricket. The stumper’s versatile capability to bat in the middle-order and perform wicketkeeping duties will add depth and add balance to the team.

His return couldn’t have come at a more opportune moment for the Indian team as they will undoubtedly benefit from his expertise and experience in the crucial Asia Cup 2023.

The 31-year-old will have an opportunity to prove his mettle when India launches their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan at Pallekele on September 2.

On the other hand, the news is not so positive for middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer. Despite undergoing surgery, Iyer's back problem continues to persist, and he may miss the six-nation tournament.
