In what comes as the latest reports, Moeen Ali is set to retire from English domestic cricket. The star will hang up his boots after the T20 Blast this year, and will skip The Hundred in 2025 as reported by ESPNcricnfo.
The 37-year-old English all-rounder has announced his retirement from international cricket in September last year. However, he remained in the franchise circuit since then. The decision by the star will allow Moeen Ali to play franchise leagues overseas, which would otherwise have been hampered owing to ECB's policy on No-objection Certificates during the English summer.
Moeen Ali To Switch To Coaching Role
Notably, Moeen Ali is in the third and final year of his contract with Warwickshire. With the decision, the English allrounder is trying to fast track his move into a coaching role. He might be seen in a player-coach role for Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast. However, it is not clear whether he will be available for the knockout stages, if the Bears qualify.
Will Moeen Ali Be Available For KKR In IPL 2025?
Notably, the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders bought the English all-rounder for ₹2 Cr during the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025. With Moeen Ali announcing retirement from domestic cricket, the question arises whether he will be available for KKR during the next edition of the tournament.
As far as we learn, the step has been taken by Moeen Ali to make himself available for the franchise leagues. So, there is little chance that he will not be playing in IPL 2025. As the situation appears at present, Moeen Ali will be available for KKR during IPL 2025 and could be an integral part of the set-up.
