On Tuesday, India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, got involved in a heated argument with The Oval groundstaff. The unfortunate incident occurred as the head coach was unhappy with the facilities provided to the visiting team by the Stadium. The argument escalated as the duo had to be separated.

As per reports, the groundstaff has decided to lodge a formal complaint against Gambhir, and if he is found guilty, the head coach could be banned as well. However, this is not the first time Gambhir has landed in trouble. Several years ago, he was involved in a massive controversy and was handed a four-game ban by the independent committee.

When Gambhir was suspended for Inappropriate Behaviour

In 2017, when Gautam Gambhir was the captain of the Delhi side, he was suspended for four games for his altercation with coach KP Bhaskar Pillai. A committee panel was formed, and Gambhir was found guilty of "Seriously Inappropriate Behaviour."

During the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017, the current India head coach criticised the Delhi head coach for creating an insecure environment for the youngsters in the side. Subsequently, the Delhi Development Cricket Association (DDCA), set up a committee, and they came up with a verdict against him.

"The Committee Members agree that considering the above facts and circumstances that have come to light, Mr Gambhir's actions towards Mr Pillai with premeditated intent to humiliate the coach were highly inappropriate and of serious nature," as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

"The position of a coach among the team members is of high respect and dignity. It is a serious disgrace to a coach to be humiliated in front of team members by one of the team members even though if it is a senior player.

Can Gambhir get suspended once again?

As per the ICC Code of Conduct, every member of the team, including the coaching/support staff, has to behave appropriately. However, if a formal complaint is indeed filed, and Gambhir is found guilty of crossing the line, then the head coach could be banned (for a couple of games).
