A shocking event was unearthed in Mumbai on Tuesday, July 29, after a security manager working at Wankhede Stadium was held for stealing an IPL jerseys. A report from First Post stated that the manager named Farooque Aslam Khan was found guilty of stealing jerseys worth 6.5 lakh rupees.
Notably, the BCCI has an official merchandise office in Wankhede Stadium, and the guard stole a carton full of jerseys of multiple franchises such as the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and several others as per the report.

The guard then sold these kits to a dealer in Haryana and made illegal money. The incident took place on June 13, but a recent audit forced the office bearers to look into CCTV footage, which exposed Aslam Khan's plan to steal the kits.
The report added that the guard was addicted to gambling and had lost a lot of money there. Thus, he opted for the route to steal the jerseys and make money out of it. Almost 260 kits were stolen from the office, and the police are claiming that they have found 50 of them.
“The guard claims he haggled a bit with the online dealer, but he hasn’t yet specified how much he got for the deal. The online dealer says he was not aware that the jerseys had been stolen,” the police source added. “The guard had told the man in Haryana that the jerseys were part of a stock clearance sale due to renovation work that was going on at the office,” a police source told TOI.
The stolen items are yet to be recovered fully and the officials fear that they won't be able to recover few IPL jerseys.
