During the course of Indian Premier League 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared the updates on their contracted players' - Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer - fitness, which hints at the maestro players' availability for the upcoming World Cup 2023, which will be held in India in October and November.

As per the BCCI, the star paceman Bumrah has successfully undergone a back surgery in New Zealand, and has been advised to begin his rehab in six weeks.

As per the BCCI, the star paceman Bumrah has successfully undergone a back surgery in New Zealand, and has been advised to begin his rehab in six weeks. Meanwhile, the middle-order batter is in the National Cricket Academy, with his surgery still to be conducted.

"Mr Jasprit Bumrah underwent surgery in New Zealand on his lower back, which was successful and he remains pain-free. The fast bowler was advised by the specialist to start his rehab six weeks after the surgery and accordingly, Mr Bumrah has commenced his rehab management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from Friday," a press release from BCCI stated.

"Mr Shreyas Iyer is scheduled to undergo surgery for his lower back issue next week. He will remain under the surgeon’s care for two weeks and will return to the NCA after that for rehabilitation," the press release added.

The Indian speedster has been out of action since September 2022 after getting a stress back fracture in his lower back. After a tremendous amount of rehab at the NCA, Bumrah had to get himself under the blade, which ruled him out of the T20 World Cup 2022, the ongoing Indian Premier League and a couple of bilateral series here and there. He is touted to miss the World Test Championship Final 2023 as well, but the team management is willing to get their premium fit before the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Just like Bumrah, Iyer will most probably be missing the WTC 2023 Final and has been ruled out of the IPL 2023, but he need to play a vital role for India in their World Cup campaign. However, for that to happen, his injury and rehab must be immaculate.
