Australia pulled off a record chase against England in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Shubman Gill gave a massive update regarding Rishabh Pant, and UP Warriorz stunned Delhi Capitals in match eight of the WPL 2025 season.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Saturday, February 22.

Inglis Renders Duckett 163 In Vain In Big Australian Heist

Josh Inglis hammered down an unbeaten 120 from just 86 balls to make lightwork of England’s colossal first innings total. Batting first, England hauled 351-8 off 50 overs courtesy of a career-best ODI knock of 163 runs by Ben Duckett. Senior man Joe Root also cracked a swift 68 in the middle overs to counter the likes of Ben Dwarshuis (3-66) and Adam Zampa (2-64).

In response, Australia slipped to 27-2 at one stage but attacking 60s from Matthew Short and Alex Carey as well as a raging 120* from Inglis steered their team past England’s 351-run total with five wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Shubman Gill Confirms Rishabh Pant Down With Fever

Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill has revealed that Rishabh Pant missed India’s training session on February 22 due to a viral fever. Gill confirmed the same while addressing the media a day prior to India’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy match against arch-rivals Pakistan. While Pant was already not in line to keep wickets for Team India in the match, his viral fever and absence from training might well have confirmed that KL Rahul will continue to don the wicketkeeping gloves.

Rahul also starred in India’s opening win of the tournament against Bangladesh a couple of days ago by scoring a composed 41* and by taking three sharp catches behind the stumps.

Virat Kohli Injury Threat Before PAK Match?

Virat Kohli was spotted with an ice pack wrapped around his ankle during India’s training session on February 22, i.e., just a day prior to his team’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy match against arch-rivals Pakistan. An image of the same went viral across social media, prompting numerous cricket fans to ponder if the legendary Indian batter had suffered an injury before the all-important game.

However, neither the BCCI nor Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill have given any update regarding any injury to Virat Kohli.

Shakib Al Hasan To Make His Return For Bangladesh

Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to make his return to competitive cricket through the upcoming Dhaka Premier League 2025 season. The senior cricketer has signed up for the Legends of Rupganj team in the tournament.

Back in 2024, Shakib was ousted from Bangladesh due to his political affiliations with the Awami League government. The 37-year-old played his last competitive match back in November for the Bangla Tigers in Abu Dhabi T10. Moreover, the cricketer played his last international for Bangladesh through a Test match in India in September.

Chinelle Henry’s Explosive 62, Grace Hat-Trick Sets Up Easy UP Warriorz Win

Chinelle Henry unleashed 62 runs from just 23 balls while batting at number eight for the UP Warriorz franchise against Delhi Capitals in match number eight of the WPL 2025 season. Henry’s explosive knock catapulted the Warriorz from a precarious 109-7 to an imposing 177-9 from 20 overs.

In response, the Delhi Capitals folded up for just 144 to fall 33 runs short of their target, despite featuring a blistering 35-ball 56 from elegant number three Jemimah Rodrigues. For the Warriorz, Kranti Goud picked up the huge wickets of Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, Jess Jonassen and Rodrigues to claim astonishing figures of 4-25. Grace Harris also picked up four wickets in the innings, which included a hat-trick to finish off the game.
