Jos Buttler breaks the record to most number of runs in 7 IPL games

Jos ‘The Boss’ Buttler is at the prime of his career as the experienced English batter has set the stage on fire with his recent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

The batter has been leading the race for the Orange Cap leaders with 491 runs to his name in his seven appearances. The English wicketkeeper batter played a subliminal knock of 116 runs against the Delhi Capitals as he smacked the bowlers all across the park with 9 fours and 9 sixes to his name.

On the way to his innings, Buttler broke Chris Gayle’s standing record for the most number of runs in the first phase of the tournament. The Universe Boss scored 436 runs in his first seven appearances in the 2011 edition of the tournament. Virat Kohli was the only man who came close to the standing record with 433 runs in seven games during the 2016 edition.

The record was just a benchmark, as Buttler made his way to his second consecutive century, his third in just seven games so far. The sensational English batter now has 491 runs to his name and is just nine runs away to become the quickest man to reach 500 runs in a single season.

Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals posted a massive total of 222 runs on the board at the end of the designated overs for the loss of two wickets.
