India and Lucknow Super Giants seamer, Jaydev Unadkat has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a shoulder injury he picked up during a training session on Sunday.

Unadkat's participation in the WTC final is still in doubt, but it is expected that the left-arm seamer has enough time to recover from the injury

During Sunday’s training session ahead of LSG’s match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Unadkat ran in to bowl and his left foot got stuck in the ropes that keeps the nets up.

He fell down on his elbow and severely injured his shoulder. A few minutes after the injury, Unadkat could be seen in a sling and an ice pack to reduce the pain.

Reportedly, Unadkat travelled to Mumbai to visit a specialist appointed by the BCCI. His name was withdrawn from the LSG squad and the Indian seamer will head towards the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further rehabilitation.

Unadkat’s injury is the latest setback for India, who are already without Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah for the WTC final against Australia. Moreover, Unadkat’s LSG teammate, KL Rahul also hurt his right leg during the match against RCB, and will miss the next IPL match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.
