Punjab Kings played the match of the tournament with the Chennai Super Kings and defeated them by 4-wickets to keep their playoff hopes well and truly alive.

Chasing a tricky 201, which is never an easy target to achieve at the Chepauk, PBKS batters went bonkers right from the word go and never let the required rate get out of their grasp.

Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan laid a strong foundation with a quick-start before Liam Livingstone scored a crucial 24-ball 40. In the end, Jitesh Sharma played a brilliant cameo and Sikandar Raza held his nerves to steal the win on the last ball of the match.

Speaking to the official broadcaster after the match, PBKS captain, Shikhar Dhawan was jubilant with the win and stated that winning in Chennai against Chennai is a huge prospect.

"It feels very special, beating Chennai in Chennai is a big thing, very happy with the team. It shows great character to bounce back from that loss and coming up with a positive mindset, all credit goes to the team and the support staff."

He added: "I was very happy with the way the bowlers bowled, I thought the wicket was too dry but it had the bounce to support. They have been very very consistent, and I wanted them to play more overs, Liam has got his touch back and you would want him to bat as much as possible, everyone is performing well."

PBKS have got their optimism back with this win. Chasing a big total, every player contributed as they defeated the Super Kings in their own backyard. Thanks to a blistering win, PBKS have moved upto fifth in the points table.
