In a swift u-turn, the Australian cricket team's official fan page, Aussies Army, heaped praise on India's comeback in the second innings after it initially trolled the visitors of falling short of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy hype in the first inning. India were bundled for 150/10 before Bumrah and co fired back to leave Australia 67/7 at stumps on Day 1.

India-Australia clashed in Day 1 of the Perth Test earlier today after weeks long hype created around the Border-Gavaskar series rivalry. Both sides were hyped but ensured the emotions didn't run too high. However, fans had no control over their emotions whatsoever on the internet.

India-Australia rivalry witness twists on Day 1 of Perth Test

As India struggled to build partnerships batting first on a lush green Perth pitch, Australia cricket team's official fan page, Aussies Army posted a tweet on X taking a dig at Indian batters' underwhelming performance. The post suggested how India perform exactly the opposite of what's expected from them, thus diminishing the rivalry hype.

However, a session later, Jasprit Bumrah and Co fought back with startling spells. To defend 150, Bumrah got 4 wickets, which included dismissals of 3 key batters. Debutant Harshit Rana followed to knock out Travis Head with a ripper. Mohammed Siraj also joined the party to break Marnus Labuschagne's 2 off 52 balls resistance.

At stumps, Australia were 67/7 and Aussies Army took a u-turn to take back the original tweet. In a new tweet, the fan Army deemed Indian bowlers extremely talented and also referred to Jasprit Bumrah as unplayable. That being said, the rivalry has just begun, and the fire is expected to peak in the coming weeks.

Day 1 of Perth Test ends with India on edge

The mediocre total of 150 suddenly turned into an uphill battle for Australia as they struggled to weather Bumrah's lethal spell. Khawaja, McSweeney, and Smith looked like bunnies as the Indian captain breathed fire.

Meanwhile, with crucial assistance from Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana, India managed to knock down 7 wickets, with the Aussies still reeling from just 67 runs on the board. An 83-run trail awaits Australia as the stage is set for another eventful day of the Perth Test.
