Team India has received a major Jasprit Bumrah boost ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 event next month. As per reports, the star pacer has made himself available for the marquee tournament, and this has come in as a massive relief for the Men in Blue. The star pacer had a discussion with one of the selectors and informed about his readiness to play.

The ace pacer's workload management has been a subject of discussion since he missed two of the five Tests vs England recently. However, if he is available for the entire Asia Cup, India's chances to defend their crown automatically increase. But if Bumrah is ready for the coveted Asian tournament, he might skip the West Indies Tests, and here's why.

Why Bumrah could miss the home Test summer vs West Indies

Ever since Bumrah got injured during the 4th Test vs Australia, Down Under, the team management has been a bit more cautious with his workload. The pacer missed the Champions Trophy and was carefully managed vs England.

The Asia Cup will begin on September 9 and will end on September 28. The West Indies tour of India commences on October 2, and if India do manage to reach the finale, there will only be a three-day gap between the final, and the start of the first Test. This would leave little chance for Bumrah to rest, and his back injury could relapse.

The importance of Bumrah in Asia Cup

Bumrah remains India's best bowler, even if he is half-fit. His importance in the squad cannot be denied, and hence, the pacer should prioritise a multi-national tournament over the West Indies tour. India's attack looks thin without Bumrah, and the Men in Blue needs their best bowler in this format.

However, even if he skips the West Indies Tests, the Indian side has plethora of options to take down the West Indian batters. In India, spin-friendly pitches are made, and the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar should be enough to tackle the visitors.
