James Anderson has certainly aged like a fine wine. The 41-year-old has entered his 22nd year as a profession cricketer and is still going strong at the moment. At an age where most fast bowlers tend to retire, the England legend has certainly broken all norms in terms of fitness standards.

It is interesting to note that the two young spinners, who are currently playing in the India series (Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed), are combined aged 39, and still fall short of Anderson's age, which shows the longevity of his career. The two young spinners weren't even born when Anderson made his international debut.

The Lancashire pacer only plays Test cricket at the moment, a decision which he took to prolong his career. He was last seen in England's ODI setup during their infamous 2015 World Cup campaign, and post that, the Three Lions have decided to only utilise him in the longest format of the game. As a result, he also boasts a strong Test record with 691 wickets.

Interestingly, the 41-year-old pacer is yet to retire from limited overs cricket. After a disastrous World Cup campaign for England in 2015, the team management decided to instil an aggressive brand of cricket, and hence they revamped their squad. The likes of Stuart Broad, Anderson, Ian Bell and Alastair Cook were shown exit doors and a young crop of players were brought into the side.

Moreover, he last played in a T20I match for England, way back in 2009. Since then, the pace bowler has not been selected in the T20I setup.
