Yashasvi Jaiswal, played a blinder of an innings against England on Day 1 of the first Test match at Hyderabad, but couldn't capitalised on the opportunity and missed out on a well deserving hundred on the morning of Day 2.

The southpaw took the England attack to the cleaners and was on a rampage on a pitch, which was considered 'not ideal' for Test cricket. The Indian youngster came out all guns blazing and took a special liking towards debutant Tom Hartley, as the off-spinner was hammered for a flurry of boundaries. Jaiswal ended Day 1 on 76* and was all set to reach a special hundred on the morning of Day 2.

However, England finally got rid off him when the man with the golden arm, Joe Root dismissed Jaiswal for a well-compiled 80. It was in the 24th over of the match when Root bowled a tossed up delivery to the youngster and Jaiswal decided to target the experienced Root.

He looked to go over the bowlers' head, but couldn't get the elevation as he struck it from the toe-end of the bat and found Root at the other end who took a smart caught&bowled dismissal.

Jaiswal was visibly disappointed with his shot selection as a hundred was on the cards for him. His innings ensured that India are still in the driving seat, having lost just 2 wickets for a score of 141. KL Rahul has joined hands with Shubman Gill as India still trail by 105 runs.
